My unit came with manufacturing defects (cast lines on the threaded rod, off-center hole etc.) that makes the unit difficult to adjust and clean. It works as advertised for the most part, but the defects make it less than satisfactory --- especially when it comes to cleaning.

I typically mold my hamburgers by hand and did a pretty decent job but I was still annoyed by the different sized burgers coming off of the grill (yeah I am a bit anal retentive). I place a paper on the bottom and top of the meat, form the meat ball to an approximate size of the mold and then close the press and apply pressure to the top. On the other end a perfectly shaped burger. The burger size still depends on the amount of meat put into the thing so I also purchased a digital kitchen scale that allows me to weigh out 0.7 lbs of meat. As far as cleaning goes I hand wash and dry the disassembled press. I have had no problem with the coating flaking or pealing... In my opinion this does a more consistent job of forming burgers than I ever did. And easily so. I generally make more patties than I need. With the paper separating the patties I just slip two of them into a freezer bag and freeze them for later. Being from the Midwest I am happy that my grill is back in use.

I got this for my son's birthday party - we all love it. I weigh out the meat first, then adjust the thickness accordingly. Perfect hamburgers on the grill! I use the patty-paper, and thus would not recommend the 'ejector', since it's not needed.
