For close to a year, I used this vac daily and loved it. It's easy to maneuver and did a sufficient job picking up cat litter and various dirt and small objects. However after about 8 months I noticed a significant decrease in suction as it took multiple passes to pick up simple dirt/litter from hardwood and linoleum. As it approached the one-year mark, after 1-2 minutes of use you could audibly hear the charge drop off. The problem here is the rechargeable battery is not replaceable, so a whole new unit is needed every year. Supposedly the new Accucharge model overcomes this limitation, so I'll be buying one of those soon.

I had such high hopes for this vaccum based on most of the reviews here. It worked very well for the first two months or so. It was easy to empty the cup and did a pretty good job (but could have been better) for touch ups between vaccuming with the bigger regular vaccum. It was never expected to be a substitute for a more powerful large vaccum, so I thought I knew it's limitations.

First of all, I should say, that I have several large wool area rugs that shed like crazy (mercifully now only when being vaccumed). That and a bit of old dried grass the dogs carried in on their feet did clog it quickly. It lost suction and my hubby took it apart and thorougly cleaned and unclogged it. (I should note that on my good heavy upright corded vaccum, this happens to the hose about every 4 months from the carpet but is always quickly resolved with no problems).

Sadly, after being unclogged it never performed properly again. I don't know if perhaps it became damaged when it was clogged or what. The suction power (which was never that strong to begin with) got much worse, and very weak even when it was clear there was no clog. Also the floor spinning brush stopped working completely. (And I know hubby didn't cause this because he works with far more sophisticated mechanics than this machine with no isssue and can fix nearly anything.)

I wish I had never bought it and am going to hopefully try to find something to replace it that will work better. It might be okay if you only expect it for very, very light duty (which was what I used it for, just touch ups) AND don't have wool carpet.

One of the most dissapointing purchases I've ever made. I really thought I would get something good with the Dirt Devil name and doing the reasearch here, where most people seemed happy with it. Guess I was wrong. I don't think I'll EVER buy anything else made from Dirt Devil after this.

By far the best little vacuum I have ever had, and I have had quite a few! It has more power than my upright Oreck so I have stopped using it in favor of the Dirt Devil cordless. I am very happy with my Dirt Devil!!
