These liners do block out the light. I agree with out reviews that there is light the comes through where the liner meets the wall and where each section of the liner meets each other. I don't know how you would rememdy this as I see this with all curtains. My daughter sleeps just fine with the little bit of light the shines through. I would definitely recommend these to others and would buy them again.

My little guy is 11 months old and pretty set in his nighttime routine. When daylight savings time kicked in, it really threw him for a loop when it was still light in the nursery at bedtime. I looked all through the offerings here on Amazon and settled on these.
They really did the trick! I have them on a curved curtain rod over a window with "room darkening" (HA!) mini blinds. I then re-hung the valance on a separate rod over the top of these. They look just fine by themselves, even with sky blue walls. Except for a little light that bleeds through the top, bottom, and where the curtains meet, the room is essentially as dark as it was when he went to bed when there was no light outside. He settled right back into his normal sleep routine. In fact, he's been sleeping in longer on the weekends when we don't have to get up. BONUS!!! I would consider getting some for our room, but I would want to put something else over the top of them in there.

Definitely blocks out light, but not so easy to attach to an existing curtain as the package says. Recommend if you want to use alone or double rods (with curtain over).
